1. What is the American Science Olympiad (ASO)?

The American Science Olympiad (ASO) is a global online science competition for students in Grades 1–8. It focuses on curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and scientific reasoning, encouraging students to apply classroom learning to real-world scientific problems.

2. Who can participate in ASO 2025?

ASO 2025 is open to:

  • Students from Grades 1–8

  • Students from USA and international schools

  • Students from all curriculum boards

  • Students with no prior Olympiad experience

3. Is ASO an online or offline Olympiad?

ASO is a live online Olympiad.
Students can appear for the test from home, with no travel required.

4. What subjects are covered in the American Science Olympiad?

ASO questions are inspired by:

  • Life Science

  • Earth Science

  • Physical Science

  • Space Science

  • Engineering Design

  • Scientific Thinking

The topics listed are suggestive, and a detailed grade-wise curriculum is shared after registration.

5. What kind of questions are asked in ASO?

ASO focuses on concept-based and application-oriented questions, including:

  • Picture-based questions

  • Multiple choice (single and multiple correct)

  • True/False

  • Fill in the blanks

  • Match the following

  • Assertion & reasoning

  • Case study-based questions

  • Data interpretation and experiment prediction

Question types vary by grade.

6. What is the test duration for ASO?

  • Grades 1–3: 60 minutes with 45 questions

  • Grades 4–8: 75 minutes with 60 questions

7. When will the ASO 2025 test be conducted?

The test will be conducted in January 2026, with grade-wise dates and timings (CST) announced on the Olympiad page.

8. Is there any registration fee?

No.
Registration for ASO 2025 is free, with limited seats per grade.

9. What will I receive after registration?

After registration, participants will receive:

  • Official grade-specific ASO curriculum

  • Practice paper and mock test access

  • Exam day instructions

  • Certificate of participation

  • Access to the ASO community and newsletter

10. Are there scholarships in ASO?

Yes. Scholarships are awarded based on rank achieved:

  • Rank 1: 100% Scholarship*

  • Rank 2–6: 75% Scholarship*

Yes.
All students who appear for the test will receive a Certificate of Participation.
Rank holders will receive a Certificate of Achievement.
